The name Schalke has always had a nice ring for me, along with its eye-pleasing typographic look. Like Borussia Monchengladbach, Schalke was a winner on the scoresheet as well, finishing third in the 11/12 Bundesliga — aside from being geographical neighbors. The 12/13 Schalke jersey is as classy as ever.

Kaizer Chiefs are reasonably well known even outside of South Africa, and play in some of the grandest soccer venues in the world. This is their 11/12 home jersey.

This 2012 GB Olympic jersey is pretty unique and special not just because of its looks, but by virtue of having been worn by a pretty unique side during a pretty special tournament.

This next batch of posts will focus on some lesser known — or even obscure — club jerseys. Not interested in the same old Barcelona or Real Madrid? Looking for something spicy and exotic? Then chew (not literally) on this 12/13 Beijing Guoan F.C. home jersey. Freddy Kanoute wears one, so why not you?

Another lower profile Premier League club is Swansea City, who started things off with a 5-0 win against Queens Park Rangers. Hard to go wrong with their white and gold 12/13 home kit either.

I’ve been wanting to feature some lesser known shirts on this blog, so here’s a chance to showcase the Queen’s Park Rangers 12/13 away shirt. Not only is QPR one of England’s oldest football clubs, it’s got a colorful shirt that begs to be put on and taken outside for a late summer bicycle ride.

Norwhich City may have survived their toughest stretch of the new season — a 5-0 beating at Fullham — or at least that’s the hope. Their 12/13 home jersey is the brightest part of their new season.

Reading is playing (and winning hanging on) at Chelsea right now, and though they are wearing their yellow away kits, here’s a look at their brand new 12/13 home shirt.

The new version of the Real Madrid home jersey isn’t much different from the old, but that’s what you come to expect from a club that’s so steeped in tradition. Mesut Ozil will feel eerily at home in the all-white jersey by Adidas.

Mallorca players will be testing their brand new home jerseys against Espanyol in just a few short hours, so feel free to let me know how good these look in person. RCD Mallorca shares Macron, the jersey’s manufacturer, with a dozen or so European clubs, including Real Betis.

Each year the new Barcelona away jersey represents a dramatic departure from last year’s version, and is one of usually one of the most colorful and eye-catching designs in the sport. It reminds of an early evening sunset, or perhaps one of those mixed drinks with two layers that don’t quite blend. I’ll have one of each, please.
